Ride the wave

Ride The Wave…

Do you find that life is a perpetual struggle and that you find yourself grasping for anything you can get a hold of that will be able to alleviate your suffering? Do you attach yourself to people and things? Do you sometimes find yourself running away, seeking greener pastures only to be disappointed by the bleak landscape when you arrive?

The truth is, you cannot run and hide from yourself, no matter where you go and who you attach yourself to. There is always YOU and the painful truth is that you are probably the hardest person there is to live with. No matter what kind of relationship you have, your job, the amount of cash in the bank, there’s only you and nothing “out there” that can make you happy or unhappy. Everything and everyone around you is nothing more than an image that is reflected back into the cornea of your eye, after which it passes through a filter that pops a representation back to you. It creates a perception and perceptions have feelings, because they’re filtered through “beliefs”. What was there in front of you and what you perceived are two completely different things. The quality of the latter will determine whether or not you live a happy life.

Ride the wave of life

At the end of the day, we are nothing more than a feeling. Our feelings come from our perceptions and are perceptions are created by habit, experience and the influence of those around us. They are then transformed into beliefs. Once you come to that realization, you can gradually begin to become aware, what are the beliefs that you have that limit you and which beliefs do you have that free you? Recently, I decided that any belief that doesn’t maximize my happiness and internal joy in some way, is not worth having to me. I’m talking about beliefs that resonate with my spirit, not ideas based on moral values or intellectual reasoning. Beliefs that are empowering produce a very visceral feeling that can either give you a surge of energy or restrict it’s flow. A friend once told me, “there’s no such thing as good or bad energy. Only stagnant energy is perceived as “negative” and it is said that “stagnant waters grow polluted over time”. It’s just a thought.

“Tolerate everything, offer your life, offer everything you have, agree to lose everything if needs be, hold on to nothing. Embrace change, yearn for it, and march”
